Mixed Conditionals

Use mixed conditionals to connect a past condition with a present result (and vice versa).

  • Past → Present: Explain a present situation with a past cause.
  • Present → Past: Imagine a different past caused by a present trait.

Type 2 + Type 3 karışımı: geçmiş sebep, bugünkü sonuç.

  • Kalıp 1 (Past → Present): If + past perfect, would + V.
  • Kalıp 2 (Present → Past): If + past simple, would have + V3.
  • had + V3: Gerçek geçmişte olmadı.
  • would + V: Şimdi hayali sonuç.
  • would have + V3: Geçmişte hayali sonuç.
  • Kural: If cümlesinde would yok; sonuç cümlesinde var.
  • TR ipucu: "If + had V3" sebep verir; "would + V" sonucu anlatır.

  • Kural: If cümlesinde would kullanılmaz; sonuç cümlesinde kullanılır.

  • Trap 1 — would in if-clause: ❌ "If I would have studied" → ✅ "If I had studied, I would be…"
  • Neden: If cümlesinde would olmaz.
  • Trap 2 — Zaman karıştırmak: ❌ "If I studied harder, I would be a doctor" → ✅ "If I had studied harder, I would be a doctor."
  • Neden: Geçmiş sebep için "had studied" şarttır.
  • Trap 3 — will yerine would: ❌ "I will live in Berlin" → ✅ "I would live in Berlin."
  • Neden: Hayali sonuçta will değil would kullanılır.
